2nd Lieutenant Jackie Robinson was more than a legendary baseball player—he was also a trailblazer in the U.S. Army during World War II. Before breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier, Robinson served as a second lieutenant in the 761st Tank Battalion, an all-Black unit known as the “Black Panthers”
In 1947, he would break baseball’s color line with the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming a symbol of progress and resilience.
